Collection Description

The human body is covered in sensory receptors that respond to stimuli, such as temperature and pressure, in order to warn us of danger or cause us pleasure, for example. In children and adults with autism and learning difficulties, tactile sensations can appear heightened, meaning that the slightest change in temperature can cause an outburst reaction, or a ‘normal’ amount of pressure can be felt as pain.

Likewise, the senses can be dulled, preventing the person from feeling temperature changes and pain, and therefore risking burns and scalding. Tactile stimulation incorporated into regular play sessions can help children with autism to be exposed to different stimuli in a controlled way, and can help them to develop body awareness, social skills, and general academic learning.

Here at UKS Mobility we supply a wide range of sensory tactile panels, designed to expose autistic children to a variety of different textures such as hard and soft, as well as different shapes, colours, and sounds. Browse our full range below, where you’ll find a number of tactile wall panels, ideally suited to schools and play groups who are looking to create a varied sensory room for children.

We hope you’re able to find everything you need on our website, but if there’s anything else we can help with then please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
