Grab rails and support rails come in many shapes and sizes and are designed for different settings. They are commonly needed in the bathroom and on stairs, two places where stability and balance is particularly important. You can choose materials according to your tastes and needs; there are wooden rails, padded grab rails and chrome finish rails – all of which are designed to be practical and to fit in with their surroundings.
The contoured bath tap rail easily attaches to taps with specialised wing nuts and bolts and can be lowered and raised as necessary. Other useful rails can be attached directly to the side of the bath so that you climb out of the bath or shower whilst safely supporting yourself. If you need extra grip, there is a padded rail too.
Rails that attach to baths are held in place with non-slip rubber pads which secure them and protect the surface of the rim of the bath. Clamping arms are adjustable and accommodate baths of varying heights and widths.
Some do not need securing to the wall and rely on suction – a safety lock indicates when these are safe to use, indicating green for a secure hold and red for when it is not held in place sufficiently for use. These rails are ideal for use away from home and also for permanent or temporary use.
Stair rails can be left or right handed versions or different bar thicknesses for a comfier grip – these are perfect for added security due to their clever design which leads 90 degrees around the newel post.
